Kaplan Professional’s approach to corporate and social responsibility is to concentrate on issues and opportunities that are closely aligned with our mission and core values. We endeavour to make real and positive changes by supporting Australian communities and protecting our local environment.

Responsible decision making. Provide efficient, user-friendly products and services in direct response to customer needs. In addition, refine our systems and capabilities by making sound business decisions that take into account economic, social, environmental issues and opportunities.

Community
Our community partnership with the Starlight Children’s Foundation
Over the last 12 months, the employees of Kaplan Professional helped raise $63,240 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Going forward, we'll continue to organise and support fundraising activities, including our Workplace Giving Program, to contribute to this worthwhile cause.

Living with illness or injury can cause enormous strain in the lives of children and their families. Physical recovery is only part of the solution. Starlight delivers programs designed to make children happy and lift their spirits when they need it most, bringing fun and laughter no matter what their illness.
Since 1988, Starlight has been providing innovative programs to help brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children, and their families, throughout Australia. Starlight programs are delivered both in and out of hospital, providing love, laughter and support to children in their time of need. Each year there are over 600,000 child admissions made to hospitals across Australia. Sadly, Starlight reaches only ‘1 in 3’ of these children. Starlight’s ultimate goal is to reach each and every child.

Environment
Kaplan Professional is committed to protecting our natural resources and reducing our environmental footprint. As part of this commitment, we have introduced several paperless products and also use sustainable materials.
Paperless Products
eBooks
Kaplan Professional is taking subject notes into the future with the introduction of eBooks for postgraduate students.
These eBooks are advanced digital versions of traditional subject notes, and use some of the latest technology to give students greater interactivity and accessibility throughout their studies.
Go Green option for study notes
The 'Go Green' option allows you to choose to receive your study notes saved on a USB flash drive when you enrol in a vocational education or real estate course.
Choosing the 'Go Green' option and receiving your study notes on a USB flash drive will not only be environmentally friendly, it will also allow you to:

search for and jump to specific topics in your study notes

easily carry your study notes around and access them wherever you go

save your assignment and any subject workings onto the USB together with your study notes, so everything you need to complete your subject is in the one place.
Sustainable materials
We also print some of our paper-based study notes on paper manufactured under the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) scheme. For more information visit www.pefc.org.
Employees
Kaplan Professional employees give generously of their time and money to the Starlight Children’s Foundation and their local communities.
The Workplace Giving Program provides an option for Kaplan Professional employees to donate a small portion of their weekly pre-tax salary to the Starlight Children’s Foundation. As key fundraising milestones are reached, the Kaplan Professional business will also contribute funds to support Starlight.
Volunteering
Kaplan Professional is incredibly supportive of their employees assisting and supporting community initiatives and environmental programs. Every Kaplan Professional employee is entitled to one extra day of paid annual leave, so he/she can volunteer at Starlight or take part in a community organisation of their choice.
One of the highlights in Kaplan Professional’s volunteering activity is Starlight Day held annually on the first Friday in May. Employees take time out of their daily work to help raise funds and awareness for Starlight.
