Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning (FNS60410)

The Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning builds upon the competencies gained in the Diploma and/or Tier 1 product training to develop the technical knowledge relevant to more complex advice scenarios. This qualification focuses on the development of the skills you need to build client centric relationships and create customer value.

Who should enrol

This qualification is ideal for:

  • experienced professionals seeking deeper knowledge and insight into financial planning
  • individuals wishing to use the qualification as a pathway to further education

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements into the Advanced Diploma.  However the subject Foundations of Financial Planning or equivalent must be completed to obtain the Advanced Diploma qualification.  Kaplan recommends that the Foundations of Financial Planning, available through the Diploma of Financial Planning (FNS50610), is completed prior to study of the Advanced Diploma subjects.

Qualification outcomes

Upon successful completion, you will be able to:

  • explain Australian taxation laws relevant to financial planning clients 
  • consider basic estate planning concepts when developing client financial plans
  • develop a Statement of Advice for clients with complex needs
  • provide comprehensive advice in relation to a range of financial services products
  • develop expertise in areas of professional practice

Recognition & exemptions

You may be entitled to gain an exemption into this qualification based on your previous study, work experience or a combination of both. To do this you need to submit evidence that demonstrates you have already met the requirements of the subjects through other means, including:

Our flexible delivery options give you control over how and when you study and let you choose the level of support you need.

This qualification is delivered via self-study with optional workshops available if you prefer a more structured face-to-face learning environment. Study manuals are available in both hard copy and e-book formats.

Assessment

To gain this qualification you must successfully complete:

  • 1 exam, 2 projects and 1 oral presentation

If you need to complete additional subjects covering education compliance in three Tier 1 product areas, you will need to also complete additional assessment items.

Duration & timeframes

A typical study commitment is 60 hours per subject and may vary depending on your capacity for study.

Projects and first-sit exams must be completed no later than 12 weeks from enrolment. Should you be deemed ‘Not Yet Competent’ you will be given an additional 4 weeks to resubmit your project or resit your exam. No extensions to the study period will be granted.

You must complete all subjects within 2 years of the initial enrolment.
