Entry requirements
The entry requirement for this qualification is completion of the Financial Services units from the core of the Diploma of Financial Planning in the Financial Services Training Package FNS10.
or
Completion of the sectoral core units and the regulatory unit FNSASIC503ZB - Provide advice in Financial Planning from the Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) in the Financial Services Training Package FNS04.
The entry requirement can be met by evidence of equivalent competency to the above units through recognition of prior learning (RPL).
Qualification outcomes
Upon successful completion, you will be able to:
- explain Australian taxation laws relevant to financial planning clients
- consider basic estate planning concepts when developing client financial plans
- develop a Statement of Advice for clients with complex needs
- provide comprehensive advice in relation to a range of financial services products
- develop expertise in areas of professional practice

Recognition & exemptions
You may be entitled to gain an exemption into this qualification based on your previous study, work experience or a combination of both. To do this you need to submit evidence that demonstrates you have already met the requirements of the subjects through other means, including:

Delivery
This qualification is delivered via self-study. Study manuals are available in both hard copy and e-book formats.
These delivery modes are supported by an online learning portal, KapLearn. Through KapLearn you can access additional study resources including supplementary learning modules, media, practice activities and an online tutor.
Assessment
To gain this qualification you must successfully complete:

2 exams, 3 projects and 1 oral presentation
You will complete fewer assessments tasks if you are eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL) for the product elective.

Duration & timeframes
A typical study commitment is 60 hours per subject and may vary depending on your capacity for study.
Projects and first-sit exams must be completed no later than 12 weeks from enrolment. Should you be deemed ‘Not Yet Competent’ you will be given an additional 4 weeks to resubmit your project or resit your exam.
Advanced Financial Planning oral presentation: The oral presentation can only be completed once the project has been assessed as ‘Competent’. The completion timeframe for the first attempt of your presentation must be no later than 21 weeks from the date on enrolment. If your presentation is deemed as ‘Not Yet Competent’ you will have an additional 2 weeks to complete 1 additional attempt.
To be awarded the qualification you must complete all subjects within 2 years of the initial enrolment.
If you are not able to complete your studies within this time period you may extend your studies by 6 weeks (fees apply).
