Understanding Derivatives

Derivatives have existed in various forms for hundreds of years, with their role in managing financial risk growing exponentially in recent decades.

As financial markets have become more integrated and the technology for measuring and managing financial risk has become more sophisticated, trading in derivatives products rivals that of traditional assets. Understanding the nature and uses of derivatives products is vital in understanding the operation of the financial system.
