Superannuation and Retirement Planning (FIN213) Task Force
This subject addresses the different aspects of superannuation, including contributions, benefits and income streams, as well as how superannuation is treated in death, divorce and bankruptcy. Retirement savings accounts, retail funds, industry funds and self-managed superannuation funds are all covered.
The subject also covers the formulation of a statement of advice (SOA), concentrating on how to structure the various required elements. Relevant legal and regulatory requirements are detailed, along with examples and strategies that financial advisers can use to benefit their clients.
Course notes and associated assessment items have been developed by Kaplan Higher Education in association with a task force of industry practitioners, academics and writers.

Career Overview
Qualified as a CPA accountant and was State Accountant for Windscreens O’Brien. He then wanted to change to financial planning commencing study in 1993 with the Securities Institute of Australia.
In 1995 an opportunity came available to join a large group and David became one of the senior planners there and has continued to grow the business.
Current Responsibilities
David's current role is Financial Adviser and Director of his own company, Secure Financial Advice Pty Ltd. He is able to provide the complete raft of advice to clients and works with people over the long term. David uses his CPA background in developing complete strategies for clients to enhance their financial position.

He recently won an award with Kaplan, for ‘Outstanding Lecturer in Queensland Open-entry Program 2007’. David also conducts his ongoing training through his financial planning business with Kaplan.
David is a strong believer in ongoing training and further study to develop your skills in this ever changing world. He recognised that in financial planning it is important for each planner to be able to provide up to date advice.

Career History
Peter commenced his financial planning career in 1990 having actively traded shares since 1983. After running his own business for 5 years he moved to mid tier accounting firm PKF to run their financial planning business in Sydney.
As the managing director of PKF Financial Services Pty Limited and Responsible Officer for the PKF Australian Financial Services Licence, Peter was directly responsible for a team of 7 financial planners and indirectly responsible for the financial planning and superannuation advice given by approximately 20 authorised representatives around Australia.
In 2007, Peter organised and handled the sale of PKF Financial Services in Sydney and Brisbane to Centric Wealth.
He was recognised as one of the top 4 Financial Planners in Australia by Money Management Magazine for the year 2002.
Peter was awarded best lecturer in Post-Graduate courses for FINSIA in 2004
Current Responsibilities
Peter is a financial planner within the Sydney office of Centric Wealth Advisers.
As well as looking after a client base of 150 private clients, Peter provides expert testimonies for litigation cases and speaks regularly at seminars for clients and accounting firms.
