Credit Transfer (CT)

Credit transfer (CT) is the process of awarding credit for a unit or units of competency (UoC) attained from another Registered Training Organisation (RTO) which are the same as the unit or units of competency in a Kaplan Professional real estate subject or qualification.

Individuals are required to provide certified copies of any relevant qualification certificates or statements of attainment listing the unit(s) of competency for which they’re seeking credit transfer.

  1. Review the course or subject outline for your proposed course or qualification, which includes the units of competency delivered in each subject or course. If you’ve been awarded the same units of competency in your prior study, you may be eligible for a credit. Kaplan Professional’s course or subject outlines can be found under the ‘Course Overview’ tab of the specific subject or course on the Kaplan Professional website.
  2. Email rpl@kaplan.edu.au along with a certified copy of your qualification certificate or statement of attainment.

A credit transfer fee in addition to the course enrolment fee may apply for real estate courses in ACT, QLD and VIC.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process assessing the competenc(ies) of an applicant which may have been acquired through formal, non-formal and informal learning.

RPL assessment will recognise your skills and knowledge and apply it to the real estate program that you want to complete. The assessment process looks at your:

  • real estate experience
  • experiences gained throughout your working life
  • any education or training you have completed and applies this to the units required to complete your chosen real estate program

Individuals are required to provide evidence of their skills and knowledge, experience and training to meet the requirements of the units of competency for which they are seeking RPL.

The RPL evidence requirements will vary between subjects and courses. Specific evidence requirements for each qualification/course or subject can be found in the RPL Kit made available to the applicant on commencement of the RPL process.

  1. Review the subject outline for your proposed qualification/course or subject, which includes the units of competency, topics and learning outcomes delivered in each subject or qualification/course. If you believe your prior study or real estate experience could be relevant to your Kaplan Professional real estate qualification/subject, you may be eligible for RPL in your intended course of study.Kaplan Professional’s subject outlines can be found under the ‘Course and subject information’ or ‘Course overview’ tab of the specific course on the Kaplan Professional website.
  2. If you believe you are eligible for RPL, enrol into your real estate qualification/course or subject, and e-mail rpl@kaplan.edu.au to request the relevant RPL kit. This document will include detailed information on the evidence you will need to provide with your application.
  3. Complete the RPL Kit and return to rpl@kaplan.edu.au. Period to submit evidence may differ in each state/territory. In NSW you have a period of three (3) months to submit your evidence from date of application*. If your evidence is not received in this timeframe, you will be required to re-enrol in your course.
  4. Undertake an interview. In the interview, the assessor will ask you a series of questions to explore further your claim for competence in your selected units of competency. This interview is to assist you in gaining the maximum results possible.
