Financial advisers in Malaysia who achieve the international certification of the  Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner (FChFP) possess not only the fundamentals of financial planning skills but also the innovative thinking essential for delivering quality financial advice. This highly-regarded certification goes beyond technical know-how; it is the knowledge and skills applied practically that truly makes a difference.

Developed in Malaysia by the National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advisors (NAMLIFA), in partnership with its international education partner and course developer Kaplan Professional Australia, The FChFP Certification delivers new thinking for a new financial advice profession.

Malaysia’s financial landscape is constantly evolving. The pace of change is accelerating, and with it, consumer expectations are shifting. Advances in technology are uncovering opportunities for everyone that were previously unimaginable. This means it is paramount for advisers to keep ahead of the curve.

On completion of the programme, you will be awarded the FChFP designation by APFinSA. This demonstrates your ability to uphold rigorous competencies and your dedication to best-practice standards.


To successfully complete the FChFP Certification, participants must achieve a pass mark of at least 50% in each assessment.

  • one practical case-study assignment


The FChFP Certification duration is three weeks, consisting of five full day workshops, one exam and one assignment.
Candidates must not exceed the certification progression timeframe of one year. All subjects need to be completed in ascending order.

Programme details

The FChFP Certification consists of five core subjects which explore various financial advice concepts.

FChFP1: Introduction to financial planning
FChFP2: Personal and business insurance planning
FCHFP3: Investment and retirement planning
FChFP4: Tax, estate and succession planning
FChFP5: Financial planning in practice (capstone)


The FChFP designation will be awarded by APFinSA on successful completion.

Entry requirements

Individuals enrolling in the FChFP Certification must meet the following experience requirements:

  • Minimum two (2) years’ relevant industry experience in roles within insurance, wealth management and/or private banking.

It is expected that individuals will also have a fundamental understanding of financial planning, insurance and wealth management concepts.

Programme overview

The FChFP Certification introduces insurance agents and financial advisers to the products, markets and regulatory environment for the financial services industry in Malaysia. Delivered in a blended learning environment of online and face-to-face learning lectures through intensive workshops by specialist faculty.

Tuition fee: MYR 5000 (ex SST).

Certification fee (payable to APFinSA): SGD 375 (ex SST).

*Tuition fee may be paid in 3 x instalments of RM1666.70. Complete payment must be made 10 days prior to workshop commencement.
