Financial Planning Major

With the industry calling for higher education standards, now is the time to upgrade your education. Our Master of Applied Finance with a Financial Planning Major will give you the advanced knowledge and skills you need to meet rising industry standards and provide quality advice to clients. The major will also give you ASIC RG 146 compliance in the following areas.

  • Generic knowledge
  • Specialist knowledge and skills in: Financial planning, General insurance, Life insurance, Insurance broking, Superannuation, Managed investments, Securities

The Financial Planning major can only be completed as part of the Master of Applied Finance. To specialise in financial planning at Graduate Diploma level, consider the Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning.

Please note: if you have taken out the Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning, you will not receive the Financial Planning Major on your Master’s award.

To graduate with a Master of Applied Finance with a Financial Planning Major, you must complete 12 subjects in total: 4 core subjects, 4 financial planning subjects, 2 elective subjects and 2 compulsory subjects (FIN234 Strategic Management and FIN236 Quantitative Applications in Finance).

Can I Change My Mind?

If you begin to complete the Major but then change your mind, that’s ok, you can continue on and complete the Graduate Diploma or Master’s without a Major and enrol in subjects across a range of areas.
