Wirltu Yarlu Aboriginal Education for Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander students

Kaplan Professional has entered into an agreement with the University of Adelaide’s Wirltu Yarlu Aboriginal Education unit to offer scholarships to Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander students across Australia as part of the Karnkanthi Indigenous Education program.

The Kaplan Professional scholarships will provide students entering a Kaplan Professional course with $10,000 to go towards their program fees and $5,000 for any other education provider.

The University of Adelaide’s Karnkanthi program nurtures the success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Years 10, 11 and 12/13 as they transition from their senior years into higher education.

Translating to ‘lifting up’ in the Kaurna language, Karnkanthi offers a high-support approach to student learning. This is achieved by building a reciprocal relationship of trust through a tailored program of guidance and support that takes into account individual needs and strengths.

The program gives students access to:

  • Access to private tutoring for school studies
  • Opportunities to participate in academic, personal, cultural and career development activities
  • Financial support for travel and accommodation
