Do you want to understand and develop appropriate strategies? For example, stock selection and analysis, portfolio construction using investments, strategies in the use of derivatives to reduce risk or produce income or provide leverage, and when and how to use instalment warrants in superannuation funds. Kaplan Professional, together with the ASX, offers the ALPA program to help students gain a detailed understanding of offered products in order to learn how to apply these to a wealth management strategy. The more you know about the types of products and the strategies behind their use the better you can help your clients take advantage of them. This is especially relevant in an advisory environment where a fee for service business model is driving the need to explore new investment options while effectively managing associated risks. The ALPA program focuses on the range of ASX products including equities, interest rate securities, managed investments, warrants and options. The ALPA program also introduces the concepts of listed managed investments and ASX-traded unlisted managed funds, explaining both exchange-traded products (ETPs) and the ASX mFunds settlement service. Learning Outcomes: Describe the processes and systems underlying the trading of securities on the ASX Explain the different type of equity securities and interest rate products listed on the ASX Understand the features of exchange-traded and over-the-counter derivative products and be able to compare them Describe the features of instalment warrants and how they can be used Describe the managed investment products and how they can be used Discuss the asset allocation process, the risks associated with investments and the advantages of portfolio diversification.
